• The permanent President of Constituent Assembly was Dr. Rajendra Prasad.
• The Constituent Assembly held its first meeting on December 9, 1946. Dr. Sachchidanand Sinha, the oldest member, was elected as the temporary President of the Assembly.

• The Constituent Assembly of India was formed on the recommendations of the Cabinet Mission which visited India in 1946.

• Constituent Assembly was elected by the Provincial Legislative Assembly constituting of 389 members which included 93 from Princely States and 296 from British Indian provinces.
